Welcome back to this week’s #ShopLocalSaturday; where I highlight local eats and shops that I have visited. This week is featuring Naked Crab NY in Flushing, Queens!
*This is compilation of the two times that I was at Naked Crab*
I was heading to Flushing, Queens one night; and I had a bit of time before heading to a health seminar. With my buddy Melvin; we headed to a place called Naked Crab on College Point Blvd.
Getting to the place; I’ve noticed that they have a happy hour menu;
Heading inside; there was a bar section on the left, couple of tables in the front, and the rest of the tables that go until the back.
From the happy hour menu; I grabbed two Cajun wings with a grilled clam and oyster.
And got the sliders from the appetizers section; which consisted of an eel, fried oyster, and short rib.
What I enjoyed the most about the Cajun wings are that they are fairly light on the Cajun flavor, so they contain a slight kick of spice for me. But the ranch sauce that comes with the wings help a lot. My issue with them is that they are a little on the smaller size; but for $1 each, it’s not really an issue. The grilled clam and oyster were pretty interesting; it isn’t often that I get to have them grilled.
I found the sliders very unique; I never had eel as a slider, usually as sushi, or over rice, but not between slider buns. Of course; with cooked eel, it comes with the eel sauce, which makes it sweet. The fried oyster has a mixed green leaves with a sauce whose name escapes me at the moment, but it pairs with the oyster quite well. And the short rib has some elements of coleslaw in it.
With the alligator bites with fries (header image, right side); this is a perfect appetizer dish to share with friends. Drizzled all over with ranch sauce, with a side of ketchup for the fries; makes this dish very tasty. The alligator bites were crunchy on the outside, and chewy on the inside; a good balance and combination; not one was overbearing on the other. Although it was my main dish for that night; it became a challenge for me to finish the entire plate, I wanted to finish all the alligator bites that I had.
To end, I would recommend Naked Crab to those who would not mind having a dinner date at a crab and seafood place. They open after 5 PM (12 PM on weekends); so dinner outings at Naked Crab is not a bad idea. They have a happy hour menu; which contains drinks, and there is a bar section, as well. I also would recommend this place for a group dinner with friends. I would really look forward to the next time I head over there with friends to try their raw bar and their boils menu (I always find it more enjoyable to enjoy seafood places like this in a group setting).
As a bonus; if you do wanna get the most bang for your buck; I’ll leave you with the following option below with my link, so that you can earn cash back on what you order while you’re visiting Naked Crab.
